That is one nasty dude. Don't worry, he won't live forever.

I know what you mean, OG. Hopefully he really was drunk, hopefully he does have a conscience, and hpefully his coscience will torment him for this for as long as he lives...and hopefully a life sentence means just that.
It may help to think that he's now someone's prison bitch...

I wonder how being someone's bitch will square with his enlightened view on homosexuality.

Nope, I don't think alcohol is responsible for such an act of brutality and someone with a consience couldn't have carried this out in the first place. I fully support the death penalty for a crime like this. He is not fit for even a prison society IMO.

I honestly don't buy the booze excuse either. Booze removes inhibitions....which means it just made it easir for him to do what he wanted to do in the first place.

I am still against the death penalty. I just don't think that is a power our government should have over us. It's too final - what with all those people who have gotten off recently because of advances in DNA technology - you should never run out of time to prove your innocence. And, of course, don't forget Cory Maye.

OG, there is no doubt in my mind that this pig should die a long, painful, horrible death, no question there. BUT NOT AT THE HAND OF ANY GOVT. To give them this power over their people is asking to get fucked: How many innocents were executed only to be posthumously pardonned later on? What good does that do? How easy would it be to frame someone to get rid of them permanently and with the blessing of the system? So no, I cannot ever be in favor of the death penalty. The system sucks, the govt is corrupt, that is too dangerous to the innocents. ... But if I were this victim's family, I'd take out a contract on that guy, even if it meant selling everything I own to make it happen.

Mylaan, those are perfectly valid arguments against the death penalty and truthfully my only hesitation would be concern that an innocent person would be executed. In a case like this, where he has admitted to doing it even, that just doesn't apply as far as I'm concerned. I do understand why you all are opposed, yet I just don't see it the same. I am not a believer that every capital offense should be a death penalty case but some crimes are just so over the top and this is one of those. There also seems to be no doubt as to his guilt. Thankfully his brother has a conscience and turned him in or he may have even gotten away with this and gone on to date other women and very likely pose a danger to them as well. Some people are too sick to live amongst us. Its sad but I think our compassion should be reserved primarily for the victims. I can't help but wonder what in this person's life made him this way, but its the way he is regardless.

In Mylaan's ideal world, the judge would hand that guy over to the victim's family to do with as they please in total impunity.
