Yup the yellow is harsh, whoah...
I do hope that 15 year old kid is gonna get more that prison. He needs psych help or when he comes out he'll be a hundred times worse. And then someone could die.

Yeah, psychiatric counseling is ordered. The reason I posted this, is because i think this is a good example of why having hate crimes laws is beneficial. Without it this kid would have gotten off with a much lighter sentence and perhaps now he can get some help before this becomes a way of life for him. Hopefully anyway.

What yellow?
I'm torn. Teenagers brains aren't fully developed. When making choices, and adult's brain uses the prefrontal cortex - the logical part of the brain. Teenaged brains use the amygdala, or the instinctual part. I don't think kids can be held as accountable for adult decisions because they don't possess the adult tools to make the best decision.
That being said, at the same time, I think the kid should do some time and get some therapy. I don't really know the answers.

Rick, check your color settings for active links, or links, or visited links. You may have chosen a gold, or beige or something but on this computer it looks yellow and it's quite a clash. Which color do usernames appear to have, to you?

I'm not about to defend the kid, but I wonder what this says about our society. If the victims had been picked at random rather than because of their sexual orientation, he would have gotten a lighter sentence? That doesn't seem right, does it?
Still, we need to send a strong message that this shit won't be tolerated...

Sentences for gay bashings have been entirely to light historically. That's part of the problem
