Anyone catch him on Jon Stewart? Comments? Oh who am I kidding, but anyway www.truthout.org/docs_2005/051105X.shtml Ridge Reveals Clashes on Alerts By Mimi Hall USA Today Tuesday 10 May 2005 Washington - The Bush administration periodically put the USA on high alert for terrorist attacks even though then-Homeland Security chief Tom Ridge argued there was only flimsy evidence to justify raising the threat level, Ridge now says. Ridge, who resigned Feb. 1, said Tuesday that he often disagreed with administration officials who wanted to elevate the threat level to orange, or "high" risk of terrorist attack, but was overruled. His comments at a Washington forum describe spirited debates over terrorist intelligence and provide rare insight into the inner workings of the nation's homeland security apparatus. Ridge said he wanted to "debunk the myth" that his agency was responsible for repeatedly raising the alert under a color-coded system he unveiled in 2002. more

Yeah, I saw him. I was surprised at how much more animated he was in that setting. I still thought some of what he said was bullshit though. Especially when he said politics never influenced their actions in the war on terror.

Does anyone even pay attention to what the terror alerts are? I honestly couldn't tell you what level of alert we've been on...

It reminds me of the alarms at work. Some people don't change them to match up to their pts. If someone's heart rate is 40 and they're not treating it then change the alarm so that it wont go off continuously. Alarms are suppose to alarm people. That's their purpose. Terrorist alarms are dumb. Just say...don't go to the malls today. We have reason to believe they will be under attack. But wait, we can't scare folks so bad they won't spend money. We'll just say it's an orange alert. They won't know what it means but we'll look like were doin something. They overplayed the terror alerts constantly during the election. Did it help Bush? Maybe in conjunction with all of Rove's other tricks.
