I have a few debate rounds this tuesday at Parkway Central, and a tournament this weekend over at Marquette, the topic is "The united states government should allow americans to purchase prescription drugs from other countries." I have to argue both for, and against it, depending on the will of the Coin Fliping God, Mordock, lobster of fate (see image). As recomended by zombie killer, I feel I should mention zombies to throw off my opponents, but I am having a hard time coralating zombies to prescription drugs. Any ideas while I am tweaking my speeches? (puny humans posed in front of Mordock)

Affirmative: To claim that Americans who purchase prescription drugs from other first world nations are at risk of receiving inferior or harmful products is not only the height of conceit but completly ungrounded in reality. The fact is, countries like canada and the UK have strict controls on the release of new drugs to the general public. The same tests that American agencies require to ensure against harmful side effects like heart attack, liver damage, zombification or any other risk are performed in these countries. Negative: The truth of the matter is that there is a definite difference in the testing required by the United States government and that required by other governments. The U.S. is very careful about which drugs are allowed to be brought to market and the chemical make up of those drugs. Companies manufacturing drugs in the U.S. must stick to the approved formulas without deviation. While drugs in Canada and the UK may be close to that same formula, there is no guarantee of an exact match. It's that kind of lack of control that the government finds so troubling. In certain chemicals, a slight deviation could have unforeseen longterm side effects, such as brain damage, heart disease or even zombification. The threat such risks could pose to the general public is the major reason we don't allow the importation of prescription drugs.

Insulating drug companies from foreign competition is exactly how the Umbrella Corp. came into power, and as a result, the t-virus and zombie outbreaks.

1 win 1 loss. I'm not to disappointed, the debate coach decided that me and my partner were doing well enough to be entered in varsity, instead of the novice division. However, this weekend tournament I'll be going into novice, so it should be easier, and now I know what some of the arguments that will be thrown against me will be.
Both of us had stronger neg speeches, and the coin favored us, so I didn't get a chance to bring up the zombies in my aff speech. Next time though...

Next time though... perhaps you would have won if you would have shown more support fot the squad....j/k . I know you did great and your skills will improve with each debate.
