I absolutely agree. I have to sign a health pledge in order to be eligible for decent health coverage at work and part of the pledge promises to always wear our seatbelts. It's already a fuckin law. Give me a break. I think they should provide me decent insurance cuz I'm a nurse, work long hrs and getting exposed to every fuckin thing in the world. Isn't that enough blood for those greedy corporate bastards masquerading as a hospital goddamnit. Now they want me to sign a pledge!

People that treat others in hospitals should have top of the line medical coveralge. (Sorry, I might be a little drunk just now). You're right, outgirl, you shouldn't have to sign anything saying you'll obey laws to get your health coverage. Hell, as far as I'm concerned, you should be taken care of for no other reason than the job you do. My ex-girlfriend is going into nursing. She's studying at Wash. U. now and I'd hate to think that the people that are going to take care of me in the future have to jump through hoops to get themselves taken care of. I definitely feel you on this, girl.

Well then I think you make good sense when you're drunk there dr snootch, because I agree with you. I'd support a health system, or health care facility/business that gave it's workers free healthcare. Personally, I am so thankful for the people who take care of us when we can't take care of ourselves, especially when we're hurt. They go to schools which aren't easy, they see the ugliest parts of people, and they take the risk of infections upon themselves just by being there, like outgirl said. I'd like to see those folks get the best of medical care. I have no idea what the economic impact of that policy would be, but I can't help but think it would improve quality overall. With themselves as patients in the system, everyone would feel more connected, more interested in maintaining high standards, and more fair about the overtime and work hours. It seems like everyone would feel better about their job. It's a thought. I don't so much mean I want it mandated or made into a law, just that I think it's a good idea, and I'd support it with my business and my money; the best support I can give.

You know what...I don't even mind paying my share of the healthcare costs. I just think that I should be eligible to receive the best plan because of my exposure and risk. What I'm angry about is the pledge. Ever since the corporatization of the hospital industry in the early 90's I see a huge difference in the workplace. I used to work for Barnes hospital. Now I work for BJC healthsystems, Inc. and I have to take a pledge to be a good citizen, obey the laws, quit smoking and eat healthy and then they will let me have adequate health insurance. The corporations have taken over everything in this country. The media, healthcare even the oval office.

snootch, I feel your pain. The "justice system" seems to be an oxymoron. You get busted on a dumbass charge in Pofuck MO and Galez Towing is slapped with "don't do bad stuff that's illegal really". Bullshit.
