This week, Michael Badnarik for President TV ads start running in the Nashville, Tennessee market.
We are running a total of 300 of these 30-second ads on CNBC, CNN, Fox News Channel, ESPN and other networks during prime time, where hundreds of thousands of voters can see them. These ads will run for 10 straight days.

Why Tennessee?
As I explained in my last e-mail, if Libertarians in a particular media market contributed enough money, we would make a local ad buy.
If not, we would use the money for a national buy. In either case, every donor could see their ads on the air.
With the help of one big donor in Tennessee and several smaller donations, we were able to make a buy in the Nashville area. These TV spots were purchased using only the money from these local donors.
Now we're going to use the rest of the money to buy NATIONAL ads, so every donor -- and millions of other Americans -- can see them.
We're in the process of buying time on a major cable network, such as Fox or CNN.
We told our media buyer that although we were a small organization, we wanted to get our message out nationally, with as much "bang for the buck" as possible.
He designed a strategy that will give the party maximum exposure within a limited budget.
Our strategy, in a nutshell: Purchase a mixture of network advertising, combined with targeted buys in toss-up states such as Ohio, Wisconsin, Missouri, Nevada or New Mexico.
Network buys on CNN or the top-rated Fox News Channel would give the party visibility and media credibility, while driving up overall vote totals.
The targeted buys in swing states would be made with an eye toward affecting the outcome of the election, as well as generating media interest.
The total cost of this airtime is estimated at $63,000.
We're going to use the $29,453 remaining in the Federal Candidates Airtime Fund.
But we're still $33,547 short.
We need to come up with that money within seven business days, and here's why:
During the election season, television networks have a policy: Pre- payment is required for all candidate ads.
And the reason is simple: TV stations are tired of being stiffed by campaigns that run out of money and can't pay their bills.
So their policy is: Pay in advance.
No money, no airtime.
If we don't have a check for $63,000 in hand by Friday, October 22, we won't be able to complete our buy.
And when you turn on your television, you'll be inundated with plenty of lies from Republican George Bush and Democrat John Kerry -- but no Libertarian truths from Michael Badnarik.
My friends, I don't want that to happen. I know _you_ don't want that to happen.
Michael Badnarik for President ads have already made an impact on voters and the news media in New Mexico and Nevada, and right now they're running in Tennessee.
Now we need to run these ads NATIONALLY so every American voter can be exposed to the Libertarian message.
But we can't do it without your support. Please make your best contribution immediately at:
www.lp.org/contribute?prog=tvads&fund=2004-4000
All of your money will go into our Federal Candidates Airtime Fund, which is designed solely to buy airtime for Michael Badnarik or other federal candidates.
Contributions to the Federal Candidates Airtime Fund are governed by a $25,000-per-individual donation limit. So you can contribute to this fund even if you've contributed the maximum $2,000 to Badnarik or any other federal campaign.
But time is running short. With Democrats and Republicans rushing to make last-minute ad buys, we need to lock up our air dates immediately.
We need to raise $33,547 within five days or our Libertarian message will be absent from the airwaves for another four years.

PS: Under federal law, the party cannot guarantee that the money will be spent on any particular federal candidate. The rules also require that the national party, and not individual contributors, have the sole power to decide where the money is spent. However, we CAN guarantee that your money will be spent on TV ads that maximize the party's visibility, viability and results.
PPS: Please contribute immediately to get our Libertarian message on the air! Our deadline is just seven days away, and we need to be there right alongside the Democrats and Republicans.
