What up? I have a question for you. I know you are against gay marriage and I know that you believe gay sex is a sin if you aren't married. I also know that you're sort of tolerant at least in a non judgy kinda way. So I was wondering...are you for or against civil unions? I'm not really trying to spark anything, I'm just curious. I don't think I've ever caught your feeling on that. I guess since the church wouldn't recognize the union, you would still feel sex was wrong. But then if that's true what about all the straights who marry outside of the church...like Vegas. The church does recognize that as a marriage even though it was not a religious ceremony. Church of Elvis maybe. Just wondering.

There's a reason I don't actually say much about gay marriage and civil unions (usually I'm just shooting down someone's argument). With the whole gay marriage issue, I have to say "I don't know", and bothering to post that has seemed rather silly to me (like calling up a poll to say that you're undecided, or calling a phone sex line to say you're not in the mood). So, for the most part, I've decided to stay silent on the issue.
I find it absurd to be against gay marriage and for civil unions, as BVD is. It makes no sense to me. That's like saying you hate eating hot dogs unless they're called "franks". If it is the same thing, why does the label matter? If you're going to have civil unions, you might as well suck it up and call it what it is....marriage.
Clarification: I do not believe that gay sex is a sin if you aren't married. I believe gay sex is a sin...period. Civil union or not, marriage or not, it is - and will be a sin - unless the inconceivable happens, and the Almighty declares from the Heavens that we've been idiots for centuries and have misunderstood what His prophets and apostles have written.
Short of that, I will always believe that gay sex is a sin. It's not something I celebrate. I'm not going to stand here (ok, sit here) and say "gay sex is a sin, nyeh nyeh..." It's just something I have to acknowledge, because I refuse to lie to myself.
It's not my intent to upset you or to condemn you either. I do not consider myself better than you. I consider myself - and I hope this doesn't sound trite, because the phrase has been used so often...your brother in Christ. I too face my own temptations, and fall victim to them. I too am a sinner. I too am only human.
;D
