Thank you for your responses and concerns on the issue of Libertarian ballots. The phone calls that were made to Gayla Vanderlich of the Sec. of States office, and the numerous calls to Rich Chrismer of the St. Charles County Election Commission, was enough to prompt action. Therefore, the affidavits are no longer needed. The St. Charles and Lincoln County Committee members were ready for what ever actions may have been required of us, and we will continue to monitor the progress of the recount in what we hope will be taken care of expeditiously. I will send further updates, as information is available. The Post wrote an article on this matter, and I have pasted it below for any who have not read it. Yours in Liberty, Darla Maloney St. Charles County Libertarian Chair MO State Executive Committee Member LP Candidate for MO US House, Congressional District 2 Computer fumbles > Libertarian votes A computer glitch resulted in the tabulation of no votes or only one vote for all but a single Libertarian candidate Tuesday in St. Charles County, prompting election officials to seek a court order to examine nearly 350 ballots. > > The problem in the computer program apparently affected only the ballots cast for Libertarian candidates. Rich Chrismer, the county elections director, said Thursday that officials would identify the computer-related problem, then ask a judge for permission to recount the ballots. > > Unofficial returns show that the Libertarian candidate for the U.S. Senate, Kevin Tull, got 219 votes in St. Charles County. But the party's candidates for lieutenant governor, secretary of state, treasurer, attorney general and one of two candidates for governor got only one vote each, the returns showed. The second gubernatorial candidate got no votes. > > A total of 349 Libertarian ballots were cast Tuesday in the county, unofficial results show. A recount could result in a new Libertarian candidate for governor. Statewide, John Swenson got 1,917 votes to 1,684 for Randall Langkraehr, a difference of 233 votes. The party has only one candidate for each of the other statewide offices. >
