Not much in your post, girl that I can honestly disagree with, and I'm pretty sure Condi Rice could take care of herself if there was something in that cartoon that really pissed her off.
I think my main problem is that Democrats (to stereotype) tout themselves as the party of the minorities but can be just as cruel and offensive to the people they oppose as the worst Republicans.
I don't feel an 'us against them' kind of ideology, I think our laws should protect personal liberties and go not much further. I'm generally opposed to special interest legislation whether it's a special interest I agree with or one I oppose.

I think my main problem is that Democrats (to stereotype) tout themselves as the party of the minorities but can be just as cruel and offensive to the people they oppose as the worst Republicans. . We all know that true liberals hate the Republicans passionately. We really are prolly the least tolerant of any group when it comes to accepting more conservative political views and I'll admit to it myself. For me, Republicans are the enemy. I have always been passionate about politics and I've always voted democrat but I have never felt such hatred and disgust for them as I do today. Now that's sayin a lot cause I hated Reagan fiercely and still do. I think his treatment of gays and his handling of AIDS was indefensible. Most of America really has no idea how difficult it has been since his death to have to endure the endless media dickriding performance crowning him the greatest...choke...gag. That's what most gays think. Fuck him for turning his back on us while we were dying. Fuck him for waiting 8 yrs to even say the word in public. Now we have Bush 2 who is nothing more than a puppet of the religious right. I don't even really believe that he even feels all that strongly about some of these issues. I know there are some republicans who do not share his views but no one dares piss off the Christians. We can not allow them to legislate religious beliefs. We talk about al quada and the terrorists but truthfully I think this administration is the greatest threat to America's freedom. I know, Libs don't think the dems are any better. Well they're a hella lot better for me. I don't feel an 'us against them' kind of ideology, I think our laws should protect personal liberties and go not much further. I'm generally opposed to special interest legislation whether it's a special interest I agree with or one I oppose. I don't view myself as a special interest and neither would anyone else if I had the same rights as everyone . It's the current laws that make me a special interest. Nothing else. I'm just a woman. I have a family. I'm a mom, a daughter,I work, pay taxes and other than driving too fast occasionally and smoking weed, I'm pretty lawabiding. Gays are just like everyone else. Shit sometimes we even have wives that cheat on us and then dump us for younger women goddamnit. It's the rest of the world that treats us differently. We just want what everyone else has and we don't want our heads bashed in while we're tryin to get it. We want a government that supports our fight for equality not one that declares war on us.

Another difference between black and white families was just pointed out to me...In white families, the Father is typically the head of the household. White women are taught that they need their men, hence the cinderalla syndrome. Black families are more matriarcal. Women run their households. I am reminded of a young pt of mine once. He was a young 21 yr old black boy who ended up in my ICU after a car accident. No one had been in contact with his family yet so when he woke up I asked him who I should call. He said Grandma. Well I stupidly just assumed that he didn't have parents or they weren't around. I called Grandma as asked. I was wrong. He had lovely parents. No they weren't together. Like 50% of parents black or white they were divorced but very much a part of his life. it's just that Grandma was the head of the household. She's who ya called when something was happining. Within 30 min grandma had mobilized the entire family and I had about 15 people standing at the doorway of the unit wanting in. That was a big lesson for me. I couldn't imagine calling Grandma if parents were available. I think that Black families value their elders more than we do. I don't know why these differences exist but they do. Blacks have had so many struggles that we have not. That's why I think that personal history influences perspectives on issues. I have always thought that it had to do with the history of being enslaved and of having so many black families ripped apart. Children literally ripped out of their mothers hands. Having a legacy like that would have an impact on how you view many things. I know how much my sexuality influences my way of thinking. That is why I say that as whites we have no right to make judgements on how a majority of blacks view certain issues. Like Affirmative action. If you are against it, fine. But I think you should still repect why the majority of blacks feels as they do about this issue.

I absolutely agree with you on this. Gay people should have all the same rights and benefits as heterosexual people. No argument from me. I also agree with you about Reagan, and here's a little Hicks to cheer you up... "Every fact points that he (Reagan) was a liar, corporate puppet, devil cocksucking fascist. Every FACT points to that. Not one FACT to the opposite. They love him How far up your ass does this guy's dick have to be before you realize he's fucking you?"

You were right. Smiling now....
