Through logic. You said that the Jews before Jesus could enslave people because of the virtue of God liking them better than everyone else. Then, you said that that honor passed to the gentiles when the Jews killed Jesus. One would assume that favored status in the eyes of the big guy would carry all the rights and priveledges - like the ability to enslave lesser races - with it. - Rick I would think that if it did, Christ would have mentioned it. Since he did not, it would be safe to assume, after his appearance, it was nixed.

Oh, I see. Like homosexuality. - Rick That sound you just heard was bvd's head exploding... Let's see, what could his response be... "Jesus didn't mention homosexuality because the law was already clear on that..."

That's where it ended. What do you think? Did I play him like a fiddle, or am I exaggerating?

I've been doing some keyboard sparring with bvd and tpgsk lately as well. In fact, last night I had a nice one with tpgsk about the Drug War.

In fact, last night I had a nice one with tpgsk about the Drug War. I was reading that. I always take a special interest in your posts over there. You disected him nicely. I had a flame war with him over there one day where I made a total bitch out of him. At one point, he said something to me, and then followed it with "Not!" I totally made fun of him, said I was whisked back to 1991, and started calling him Garth. I think it was deleted, but it was masterful. By the end of the day, people were begging him to just stay down. ;D - Rick

He started calling me Garth during our drug thread. He could at least have the common courtesy to create an original flame for me. I think I deserve it ;D

Rick,
Nice job on ol' bvd. I only tend to post a couple days a week, so I miss things like this. I find that many of the posters over in the "other forum" tend to simply hold fast to preconceived notions.
Sort of like TP insinuating that his life was the basis for an HBO Lifestories episode, or hskrs_n_cards writing a long rambling about how he's so persecuted, or people endlessling bringing up Bill Clinton... Jesus Christ...
I think a wise man put it best when he said thus: "Everybody's stupid" --Butthead

You know what I have noticed, anecdotally? "Christians" who are pro gay agenda also seem to be pro choice on abortion, anti capital punishment, tree hugging, save the whale types. Wonder why that is. Why would Christians be FOR a Biblical abomination, murdering the unborn, and NOT punishing convicted murderous felons, but are willing to risk a lot to save trees, and whales. Seems rather strange view. Maybe there are a few christians around with enough brain cells to recognize the bible for what it is. A really good history book. While there may be some good teachings located in the christian bible, it seems pretty clear to me that the King James version has been tainted by the very powers sworn to protect and translate its meaning to the masses. If it ever was truely the word of God, it is now a manuscript for every fanatic to justify an agenda of hatred and prejudice. It doesn't seem that far fetched to me that someone who embraces the idea of christianity (love one another, etc.) would also support equal rights or the environment. While I am pro choice, I don't condemn anyone with a differing opinion as long as they don't try to shoot me while I'm at the clinic exercising my right to obtain a safe and legal abortion. The world has changed. Most people now understand that not only is homosexuality NOT an abomination but that we are not going anywhere. We are here to stay and we're no longer satisfied with living a life of invisibility. We are everywhere. We are your nurses, your doctors and your teachers. We check out your groceries. We sell you life insurance. We are your neighbors. Your tolerance is not enough to satisfy any longer. We want the same rights that every other American citizen wants. Visability is the most powerful weapon that we have. When we are known in our communities, we build allies that are stronger than the bible. Because after all is said and done. Knowledge is the true enemy of faith. Peace.
