Internet providers set their own rates and are not subject to federal or state price regulation.

I thought that if the government doesn't regulate prices these companies were supposed to be price-gouging us all to death for their services. Apparently not. Score one for the free market system.

Great story! I've been so fascinated lately with reading old newspaper clippings, SCOTUS decisions and stuff about Lincoln and the Civil War, I have been neglecting other areas of interest.

I have SBC, and I don't really like it that much, to tell you the truth. I wish I had gotten a cable modem or gone with my DirecTV sattelite modem.

Still, the computer industry is still one of the least regulated sectors of the private economy, and as such, the prices drop quicker and quality improves faster than any other industry. I hope more people notice this.
