Just last month, I took my girlfriend to the airport. Pulling into the short-term parking lot, we passed a sign reading: "All vehicles will be searched." There were 3 or 4 'security personnel' standing around the sign ready to search vehicles.

We were waved through without a single question. We did no more than slow down passing this security checkpoint.

Meanwhile, I've flown 3 times since 9/11, the only people I ever see getting the 'random search' are attractive women. Not that I think it's out of the question that ObL might induce beautiful, young women to forfeit the rest of their lives for suicide bombing missions, just maybe that wouldn't be his first choice of assassin.
