someone, lone_woolfy, I think posted at the STL CA forum. I'm not particularly anarchistic, but it's an interesting read nonetheless. Why I'm an AnarchistI agree, in principle, with this article. There are some disturbing things that have happened in this country that lend creedance to the author's viewpoint. Lincoln threw a couple of congressmen in jail for dissenting against the Civil War, and when the Supreme Court ruled that action beyond the scope of his power and ordered their release, Lincoln just said, "Tough." In an instant, the power of the Judical branch as a check on executive and legislative abuse was rendered impotent. The effectiveness of the Constitution as a document limiting federal power and abuse is only as strong as the people who fight for it, and their numbers. The Constitution has already been willfully misinterpreted to do any number of things never intended by the founders, and never authorized by the document. So much so, that, in fact, most of what the government does today is outside its constitutional authority. How long will it be before this weakened Constitution and federal power grab is used against us, rather than ineffectively for us? I guess only time will tell... - Rick

This eminent domain business going on recently really drove home, for me, how seriously fucked we are right now. I mean, I knew deep down in my heart that politicians were only in it for the money and that they sold out their constituents consistantly, but I never imagined any of them would pull anything this blatant and actually be getting away with it. It's really sad.
The really bad part is, I'm not sure it can be fixed short of tearing it all down and starting from scratch. There's no way these corrupt politicians are going to just sit around and let us take away all the power and profitability they've built up over the decades.
I think this country's headed in a scary direction and I don't like it. Not one bit.

I think this country's headed in a scary direction and I don't like it. Not one bit. I battle that fear all the time. The cards we still hold are that we elect the people who do this to us. We have to work hard to change the hearts and minds of the voters. We won't be able to change anything until we elect people willing to change the system. So, we need to start demanding more of our public servants. - Rick
