When I see what a bunch of non thinking sheep Americans have become, being so easily fooled by a mere tweaking of the media, when I see how they vote and later hear their "reasons" as to why, I realise that if I am ever in position to face a jury, I'll have good reason to fear for my future. When your fate is to be decided by a bunch of ignorant, gullible, easily manipulated "righteous" people, it is worrisome, indeed.

I'm glad you liked the essay (well, you never actually said you liked it, but I'm assuming...), and I couldn't agree with you more. "We have a criminal jury system which is superior to any in the world; and its efficiency is only marred by the difficulty of finding twelve men every day who don't know anything and can't read."-- Mark Twain [Samuel Langhornne Clemens] (1835-1910) - Rick

I actually portrayed the 'One Angry Man' in a high school play. Very eye-opening material at that age. Your essay, marred by only a few spelling errors ;D, was great! I couldn't agree more that our government has become so huge and oppressive that it's role now is more parent than servant.
Our society is largely to blame as people have become so apathetic that more people showed up in downtown St. Louis to watch the last episode of Seinfeld than have ever spoken out against our oppressive government. No one cares until it happens to them.
That's one reason I'm glad we have 'people like you' writing about these kinds of things. The only inefficiency in independant media is that the people who are exposed to it likely already agree with what the author is writing about. We don't seem to be recruiting enough new people to make a difference. And now we've come back to my point about the apathetic masses.

And I'm glad we have 'people like you' to pump my ego! ;D - Rick

Then you must really cringe, BadGabrielle when you visit those Delphforums, and read some of the idiocy there.
