My mom picked up a couple booklets at Church: one about angels, the other about the Bible. I'm still reading through the one on the Bible, but I did find out that it can be found online, in PDF format. Click here to download it.

Oh Kender, I wish I felt more respect toward the bible and the Christian faith. To me, it's a hurtful divide. But I know you don't mean it that way. Please forgive me all the things I say about Christians and the Christian faith; I only mean it toward those that use it to hurt and manipulate others. As one who grew up non Christian, and who has had to face that "outsider" status, in my home town always, it's just very hard to be fair. When our President sees fit to hold his religion above all others, while he says he represents us all.
How can I be represented by someone that has no respect for MY beliefs?
I think, after the many years of back and forth posting, you already know my feelings on it. You're one of the few people that give me, and always have, given me pause in hateful diatribes and blanket accusations against Christians and the bible. You make me take a step back from it. But I feel, now, that many you might agree with theologically would happily jail, deport or even kill the likes of me. And believe they were right in doing so. That hurts more than losing my religion, to me.

Understood. I thought that this PDF was a pretty interesting and pretty good publication about the subject. It's put out by the Knights of Columbus, so obviously it's a Catholic perspective...so you know you're getting The Truth (hehehe).
Kidding aside, it's educational in nature. If nothing else, it could give you a better understanding of the Bible so that when the Bible-thumpers start their manipulative behavior, you're better armed with knowledge.
