Thanks, Sweetie. I was just teasing you, though! I just realized I have more votes than any other single candidate. They like me. They really like me. ;D - Rick Yes, they do. It also helps that your opponent is an idiot. I know you won't say that...but I will. You def deserve the nomination. It's not even close dude.

Can you post a link to the thread you guys had it out in? I'm interested. - Rick Boards closed down right now. I'll have to find it and we really didn't have it out cuz he's a big pussy. I made a statement about the lib party and he came back with calling my post ill informed nonsense because apparently I didn't know the libs were the only party supporting gay marriage. Well of course I know that and how dare he assume that I don't. I'm not a one issue voter. So when I let him know that I really am pretty well informed about the party and it's platform, he came back with calling me misguided. That was pretty much it. He seems to get out of conversations with me pretty quick. I call him on his shit. I posted something else...my opinion. His response, thats utter nonsense. Thats all. well explain yourself then. Convince me...cuz thats what a debate is. He loves to tell people they don't know shit but when you back him a corner he has nothing to say. He's not very bright. Penquin would have been better competition. Not to take anything away from you dude. I don't mean it that way, just penquin is so much smarter than jeffersonian IMO.

*I* voted for you, Rick. I was a bit disappointed in the Republican representative nominations. The ones nominated don't tend to be able to defend their position from all sides and, when confronted with conflicting evidence, tend to ignore it rather than confront it. There is also a tendency among a couple of them to resort to the name calling and putdowns. Logical fallacies are also common. Like the whole thing that it was proof Alex Kerry wore a see through dress at Cannes intentionally because she was at Cannes and that it wasn't a "wardrobe" malfunction...further proof being that she wasn't wearing a bra. Dude...doesn't he know anything about fashion? There are some dresses one can't wear a bra with without it looking crappy because of the bra lines. The venue doesn't make it true...duh. Anyway, I tried to choose the most honest, intelligent debaters in my voting. Why I voted for Sally Field, I mean, Rick Okay, did anyone catch Parisian's whine that he wasn't nominated for the Democrats? And, being moderator, I won't be able to participate in any of the "second guessing" or discussion of the debate Fine, I'll just start my own thread after its over and it will be really long and I will say exactly what I think.

And I'm proud to say I met May in person That really is neat May, getting noticed like that You are outstanding friend This is so fun. I can't wait for the debating to start. Hey outgirl, I understand what you mean about JL. It bothers me because, while I know I'm not a rocket scientist, I do try to sound like I halfway know what I'm talking about, or at the very least. will listen and respond to someone who knows more or cares to say they do. I don't mind being shown to be wrong so much as mind being put down in the process. Rather than support their view, rather than being a teacher, rather than wanting to share a truth or show a lie...they'd rather write me off altogether with a quick quib and a halfass answer..sometimes when I haven't been anything but factual and polite. Gets old. I'm not that dumb and they aren't that bright, some of em'

Yeah may, I read that whole dress post. I couldn't get into that, it was just such a stupid comparison to the Mary Cheney statement. When he started to talk about Princess Diana I almost got involved but held off. You did good without my help. It's kinda like bvd. I'll do it for awhile but just get bored with his long ass posts that just repeat the same thing over and over and over and.....you get my point. People seem to forget that most of the time it's just an opinion. Everyones got one and it's ok if they differ. that was just precious maylily, lol. Lets all start calling him Sally Field from now on...hahaha

Gets old. I'm not that dumb and they aren't that bright, some of em' You are exactly right. I feel the same. I'm not the smartest person in the world but you don't have to be a rocket scientist to have an opinion about our kids dying in this war. Maybe being a mom makes me as qualified as anyone. Most of these kids are the same age as mine. I don't usually post much on subjects that I am less informed. I read and listen...try to become more informed. The thing is, there is usually something good in every party. At least before the republican party was taken over by religious extremists. That certainly overshadows any thing else that might be ok for me. But for the most part I think I'm right. I don't especially like the lib platform much but agree with several things. Mostly agree with the dems but dislike things too. It doesn't have to get so hateful. I can listen and if you make your point I'll acknowlege it. But some of these guys and JL is the worst, just come back with some insult.."that's utter nonsense" Now maybe after 8 hrs of going at it with bvd I might end the session with that and move on but for JL, it's his first and if you let him get away with it his last response. I sure haven't seem much intelligent thought from him that I'll allow him to get away with that. He's an asshole Not much else there,IMO.

I got a whopping 4 votes to represent the lefties/Democrats in this debate. I'm not exactly surprised-- hell, I was surprised that I was even nominated. I think the pool of intelligence pool of posters on the left is much deeper than the pool of those on right at that forum. I think PeoplesFrontOfJudea makes the best arguments, at least from my experience.
So, the debate is Rick, Rumblefish (cocksucker ;D), JohnDenny, ZK, and Swashbuckler? What the fuck is the Progressive Party anyway? I found a website about the Vermont Progressive Party, and they seem remarkably similar to that of the Greens. Oh well, I suppose we shall find out in the near future.

Danza, I voted for Rumblefish...sorry. Figured a lawyer wouldn't hurt I had to take my partisanship while I could *G* Thanks, whatever ;D Make me blush! Oh, and almost forgot. Rick! I don't know what kind of situation you and HotJan are in but this is something you really, really need to check out. www.naca.com (I think). Nonprofit homebuyer program. No closing costs, no down, no application fees, below market rate, don't need perfect credit! I'm going to the workshop this weekend. They'll work with you to get your credit in shape and stick with you as long as it takes...

I'm not intending to come off as a jerk, but what exactly is the point of these CA forum debates? Isn't that waht people do there anyway?

I'm not intending to come off as a jerk, but what exactly is the point of these CA forum debates? Isn't that waht people do there anyway? I wondered too Kender. Could assume it would include only those posters that agree to abide by more stringent rules, with May as a more frequently participating moderator. I think they would also be confined to a main topic, or least have the pretense of trying ; )
