With modern technology, we can keep babies alive at unbelievably young ages. They would not survive without mechanical ventilation, surfactin and heat lamps etc. They would not be viable without this technology just as many of our adult pts at the hospitial would not survive without these interventions. These interventions however, are now routine. I totally agree, and I believe that if there is a way to remove the baby without killing it, all efforts should be made to do so. Voting against third trimester abortion does not make you against abortion. Voting to limit funding to only clinics that maintain Bush's gag order however, does. I'm pretty sure that he wasn't voting about any gag order, but as a libertarian, does not believe in federal funding of the clinics here and abroad. I am sure if he got the opportunity to vote to remove the funding of the agencies that don't advocate abortion, he would do that, too. - Rick PS - Amazingly civil discussion we are having on such a contentious issue, eh? We should be proud of ourselves. Somebody else pat us on the back - my arm is sore... haha

Hey, it's your forum. If you think something should be moved, go ahead and move it. Or are you not able to do that? I'm not sure what the settings are for moderators. If you can't, let me know, and I'll try to fix that. - Rick I think only an administrator can move threads

Voted yes for federal funding on healthcare providers that do not provide abortion information. That is the gag order.

Better read it again. Voted yes for federal funding on healthcare providers that do not provide abortion information. That is the gag order. You're right. Oh well, / would have voted differently. He's usually so consistent with his no votes, they call him "Doctor No." The doctor is because I believe he is an OBGYN. - Rick

It's surprising that someone with his Libertarian leaning views would support the gag order. It's pretty unconstitutional for the government to dictate to healthcare workers what treatment options they can inform their pts about. Especially considering that abortion is still legal in this country, though not for long if Bush and his pals have anything to say about it.
