I received 'the notice' once, but my boss got me out of it by calling the courthouse and telling them that I was absolutely unable to be out of work during the alotted time.
I'd almost like to receive it again so I could maybe get on the inside and pull a job on the man. I'd be able to get off work for it now and I actually work in Clayton, which is why they'll never call on me again. Why make things easy, instead we'll get someone who can't afford the time off and has to drive 50 miles and pay to park. I could walk to the courthouse in 15 minutes from my office. Such is the way of our two-headed behemoth monstrosity.
Having a list of people who actually wanted to be on a jury would just make things too convenient and organized. Can't have that.

Not to mention some of those evil, terrorist-supporting drug-users might actually not get convicted of a crime that only exists because 'The Government said so.'
Further, it may come to pass that some of those victimless, yet obviously still vile and vicious, crimes may be stricken from the books by people who just don't understand that people need to be protected from themselves because, let's face it, people can't really be expected to make rational decisions in their own lives.
End of Rant...for now

Juries have truly lost their entire purpose over the last century. I had a jury duty experience a few months ago that I wrote about called One Angry Man... I know you've read it, but anyone else interested in further study into this issue can check it out. Jury Nullification is a right everyone needs to be aware of, and the most important right in our justice system that the fewest people know of. It's sad. I've been thinking of having a small informative protest on jury duty day in the city, handing out pamphlets informing people of that right. Does anyone think this is a good idea? - Rick

That would be a great idea! Everyone should know about jury-nullification. It's one of the few remaining ways we can actually change unjust practices. I think judges should be required to explain jury-nullification to every jury that sits in judgement in their courtroom.
Judges should be all for jury-nullification. It can only make their jobs easier and their dockets less crowded. Get some of these ridiculous laws off the books.
It never made sense that juries were required to interpret the law as the judge instructs them to. What's the point of a jury at all?

Ah, but nullification takes some power back from the State, and therefore, the judges. They hate that. So, if I set something up, would you go and help pass out the fliers? - Rick

Cool. It'll probably be a month or more from now before I am able to do it (I'm looking for work right now), but I definitely do want to do it. Think we can get some media attention, spread the word a little better? It'd be good for my traffic, I'd think, as well. I wonder if they'll try to stop us... - Rick

If you're not careful you'll have a political party on your hands soon. Speaking of political parties, why are all parties except the Big 2 considered third parties? Why not fourth and fifth parties. Why are politicians having so many parties anyway and whose dollar is it on? Not mine I hope. I'm sick of our political system. Quagmire. That's what we've got on our hands here. The Quagiest Quagmire that ever Quagmired. There is no Mr. Clean big enough for this insane mountain of waste and excrement that masquerades as our government. We're just going to have to tear it all down and start from scratch. And that's where the real problems start.
