Rick must have set this up. We don't have this on my board. I gave kender karma but I can't give anyone else karma till 0540 this am. How do you know that? What is the time frame between exaltings and smitings?

If you give someone karma and try it again too soon, it tells you what time you can give more. I haven't felt the need to smite anyone yet. I think they need this feature on CA forum though, lol. Poor bvd would get smited all day long. Our board is proboards too and we don't have this . I guess we could. We'll see how it goes here I guess.

You guys pretty much figured out the karma thing. It is good for new users and guests. They can see who is worthwhile from the start and avoid the trolls. I was thinking about making it impossible to post without signing up. What do you guys think of that?
Also, I didn't get notified of any replies to this thread. That feature has changed to BOOKMARKS, and I know there is a way for me to make it so that every time I bookmark something, I get email notification of replies - I just don't know how to activate that for my account.

Okay, I figured out the bookmarks. When you create or reply to a thread, you can click "Bookmark this thread" or whatever where you would have previously checked the email notification. To set your alerts, go to your profile and choose BOOKMARKS. Once you are there, on the top right corner of the yellow framing (where you can now see REPLY. SEND, and PRINT), there is an invisible Manage bookmarks button. Click that, and you can set your alert to either PM or email. When you change the default, you will have to still go to the previously bookmarked threads and set them to email by hand. All future bookmarks will be defaulted to email, though. Sorry the button is invisible in here. I don't know why, but I'll try to make it show up.

I was thinking about making it impossible to post without signing up. What do you guys think of that? Honestly? Look around. I don't think it's necessary. It won't bother me if you do that, but this forum doesn't have the traffic that stltoday does. Personally, I'm biased against guests. If you're a guest, you're an unknown, and I don't really bother reading the post anyway. I tend to react more positively to folks I recognize. For example, I read this thread because I saw that you posted, and was curious to see what you wrote. Guests don't arouse my curiousity the same way.

I don't really like guest posting, though. I think it invites trolls.
